Mui Improving one's g r a m m a r, composition, spelling, and literary knowledge, English study tends to re-educate the pupil in the proper use of his everyday language. Fundamental skills stressed in English I through English III guide pupils to advancements in writing skills in the courses of English IV through English VII. Ad- vanced composition cultivates writing ability while English IX explores our great literary heritage. Laboratory reading in early English increases comprehension and speed ability. Four new English teachers add newness to standard methods of teaching practiced at Washington. I know it's here. Many Continental students spend study hall and other spare moments in the library.

The foundation upon which our English language is formed, foreign languages help the student who wishes to attend college. Including not only the underlying histories of Latin and Spanish speaking countries, but also the every- day habits of the native people, these courses add an extra spark to ignite the curiosity of Continentaland. Collecting the annual contribution to the Care fund, language students find relief in the knowledge that they are helping their fellow man. Translating Spanish phrases in the new laboratory room, students receive personal at- tention and aid in the study of the Spanish language.
