Helping Bob Roark with his coat is Judy Oliver. Girls helping boys with their coats was a familiar scene to all who went to the Turn- about Twirl. The Turnabout Twirl was a semi-formal dance sponsored by the Senior Class and was held on March 23, in the school cafeteria. This is the third year that the girls at Washington have had the opportunity of asking the boys to a dance. The Butler Collegians furnished the music, and Jerry Lawlis was crowned Top Man during inter- mission. Candidates for the Top Man title also included Jan Guflin, Tom Bollinger, Don Martin, and Ronald Macy. Prizes were given to the most original and prettiest corsages made by the girls. Shown dancing at the Holly Hop are, left to right: Phyllis Rollman, Joyce Burnell, Karen Davis, and Joyce Harmon. The record dance was held Dec- ember 16, in the school cafeteria and was sponsored by the Senior Class. The Junior Vaudeville was one Of the most outstanding events of this school year. Basin Street Reverien, which tells the story of jazz and blues in New Orleans, was the title of act three. Don Pope, Fred Thomas, Benny Carroll, Franklin Minten, and Eddie Kelly are the members of the El-A-Mingos, one of the talented groups which made this act such a success. Others partici- pating in the same act were Gwen Cannon, Wayne Cannon, Virginia Pettigrew, Sandra Smith, and Myrtle Washington. fl f fe ,t, l z 1 Ml: Talent Agency , written by if is Peggy Arbuckle and Dorothy Oli- ver, was the title of act two. Shown, at the below left, doing a comedy sketch from this act are Peggy A rb uc kle and Joyce Harmon. Others taking part in this act were Bob Gehlbach, Delores Root. Carol Jordan, Joyce Bright. Jill Carter, Sue Ann Newkirk, Mal'- garet Reynolds, Dorothy Oliver, Anita Stroy, Bill Barton, and Don- na Barton. ,S stepped out . . . Broadway Rhythms , written by Linda Bradley, Karen Davis, Karen Jennings, and Richard Williams, featured songs and dances taken from movies.
