determination prevailed Government students, Dave McAtee, r 1 John Becker, and Dean Lang, are pic- V tured at the right posting news articles I on the bulletin board. During this Course, government classes took up three special projects. Each class either 59 formed the House of Representatives or g the Senate and carried out the duties of making laws and amending the consti- tution. Later in the semester the classes formed a Supreme Court which deter- mined th e constitutionality of these laws and amendments. Such activities helped the students better understand the functioning of the government. 7 . Pictured at the left in an office prac- tice class are Janet Oliver, Nancy Dailey, and Betty Dickey. These girls, along with the others in their class, Work very hard and take much pride in their work. In this course students learn to manipu- late the mimeograph machine and other machines useful in the business world. Janet Oliver is running the mimeograph machine shown in the picture. Nancy D ai l e y is operating the hectograph, while Betty Dickey looks on. After learn- ing to do oflice Work efiiciently, the stu- dents are ready for a good ofice job after graduation. Carolyn Mann and Richard Williams are shown looking over their art Work in Mr, Manetta's advanced art class. Painting portraits has been a project of the class. Miss Mary Benedict and Miss Rose E. King are two faculty members who donated their services by acting as models. Their portraits have been dis- played in the halls near the art rooms. Many compliments have been received as to the fine work the students have put forth on their various projects.

The Virgil class also took ii very active part in the activities of the Latin Club.

The print- ing classes do all printin,i:,f for The Surveyor and The Senior Post. The auto shop is something new at Washington this year. In the auto shop classes, the Iioys repair automobiles. Pic-turenl are Ronald Harmon, Don Wilson, and Richard Sanford discuss- ing the repairs that must be made on the car shown on the lift. In the Home Economics classes we find boys as well as girls, be- cause this class is open to all pu- pils. The students learn to cook and to plan inexpensive meals. Managing a home is also studied in this course as well as table et- iquette and table setting. During the Christmas s e a s 0 n teachers were invited to the home economics rooms for cookies and tea which were made by the pupils in the different food classes.
