Janet Shaw was chosen Queen by the student body and crowned by a member of the football squad, Dick Sebree, before the game- The Student Coun cil was re- sponsible for the beautiful orchid corsages worn by our lovely queen and her court. As Wasnington's band marched either down the football field or in parades, our high-stepping ma- jorettes and drum major could al- ways be seen leading the way. In their Hashy white outfits, they entertained between the halves at the football games. Pictured, left to right, are Sandy Harrington, Bonnie Postal, Pat Fendley, Errol Loviscek, Joyce Harmon, Juanita Jeffras, and Car- olyn Lee. Errol Loviscek, Washington's outstanding drum major, proudly led the band through their songs and formations. The majorettes, drum major, and marching band are all under the direction of Mr. Ray Funk. The success of our football sea- son was complemented by the con- sistently good performance of our band, inajorettes, and drum major.

During this Course, government classes took up three special projects. Each class either 59 formed the House of Representatives or g the Senate and carried out the duties of making laws and amending the consti- tution. Later in the semester the classes formed a Supreme Court which deter- mined th e constitutionality of these laws and amendments. Such activities helped the students better understand the functioning of the government. 7 . Pictured at the left in an office prac- tice class are Janet Oliver, Nancy Dailey, and Betty Dickey. These girls, along with the others in their class, Work very hard and take much pride in their work. In this course students learn to manipu- late the mimeograph machine and other machines useful in the business world. Janet Oliver is running the mimeograph machine shown in the picture. Nancy D ai l e y is operating the hectograph, while Betty Dickey looks on. After learn- ing to do oflice Work efiiciently, the stu- dents are ready for a good ofice job after graduation. Carolyn Mann and Richard Williams are shown looking over their art Work in Mr, Manetta's advanced art class. Painting portraits has been a project of the class. Miss Mary Benedict and Miss Rose E. King are two faculty members who donated their services by acting as models. Their portraits have been dis- played in the halls near the art rooms. Many compliments have been received as to the fine work the students have put forth on their various projects.
