Extension and University of i Chicago. A Mr. Gingery came to Indianapolis as head of the Shortridge High School Mathematics Department in 1917. He served in this capacity until 1927, when he became the first principal of G. W. H. S. Dedication N I hope that I shall al'wo.ys possess firmness enough to 'main- tain what I consideo' the 'most enrifzble of titles, the chafrficter of an honest mlm. We at George Washington High School have frequently seen this motto in the main hall and in the Sm'z'eyo'r, but perhaps have never realized that we have among us a man who exemplifies this high ideal of George Washington. He is our friend, counselor, and administrator. He is always willing to take time from his busy day to help and advise those of us who come to him for help. He has nourished George Washington High School from its infancy until now it is approaching its twenty-hfth year with con- tidence. It is really a privilege to dedicate our 1951 Senior Post, The Wuslzingtonian, to Mr. Walter Gingery. three
