It is his duty to make reports to the Superin- tendent of Schools and the Board of School Commissioners. He recommends appointment of teachers. Our principal also requests budgeting of funds and has the general oversight over the preparation of courses of study. In addition to these he also interviews all pupils transferring from other schools and helps make out programs for all students. It is he, also, who interviews failing seniors of the school. Mr. Gingery has a B. S. degree from Mt. Union College at Alliance, Ohio, an M. A. from the University of Chicago, and an M. A. ad eundem gradem from McMaster Univer- sity at Toronto, Ontario. MR. E. B. HARGRAVE ' Mr. E. B. Hargrave, vice-principal, has charge of adjust- ment work. He tries to arrange consultations between student, parent, and teacher. There are tive or six other teachers who assist Mr. Hai-grave with the 9B conference work for freshman students. He helps with the work in the attendance ofiice as well as caring for problems of disci- pline that arise in connection with this work. Being vice- principal, he must be ready at all times to help Mr. Ging- eiy with any work which the latter cannot find time to take care of. Mr. Hargrave has both an A. B. and an M. A. degree from Indiana University. MISS MYRTLE JOHNSON Miss Myrtle Johnson is our Dean of Girlsg but she works with boys as well as girls. Her chief concern. is with the needs of individual students rather than class work, although she has two classes in the English department. She administers student aid under the National Youth Ad- ministration. Her office is also the center of extracurri- cular activities and records. Miss Johnson has both A. B. and M. A. degrees from Butler University here in Indianapolis. She has also done graduate work in Purdue, Chicago, and Columbia Univer- sities. I2l
