THE SENIOR CLASS 1946 . . . The wheels of progress began rolling for the ’49ers when Miss Emily Johnson was appointed class sponsor. Driving the covered wagon at the start of their journey was Darrel Quigley, president; assisted by Lodie Labda, vice-president; Mary Pappas, secretary; and Paul Wetnight, treasurer. Their first stop was the dance, The Babies ' Bawl,” which indicated their soon to be famous team of spirit and skill. 1947 . . . Emerging triumphantly from first year difficulties, they pushed forward under the leadership of Fred Eberly, president, Norman Banas, vice-president; Evelyn Latiak, secretary; and Art Clark, treasurer. Seek and ye shall find” was appropriately chosen the class motto. Reveal- ing their appreciation for beauty, they selected the American Beauty rose as their flower and red and silver as their colors. 1948 . . • After a two year period of traveling, the class established its settlement. Town officials elected were: George Argus, president, Louis Biedron, vice-president; Betty Zehme, secretary; and Conway Hotchkiss, treasurer. A community shindig, The Breather,” was held to celebrate their safe arrival. Heralding their third anniversary, they promenaded at Symphony in Gold,” and presented the comedy, Nothing But the Truth.” 1949 . . . Re-electing George Argus president, the colony also chose Jim Figler vice-president, Roberta Cherechinsky secretary, and John Hertzfeldt treasurer. They gave their second dramatic production, Our Town,” followed by a December dance, White Magic.” The true Pioneer spirit returned, however, and restlessness dominated the little group. Seeking adventure and future happiness, they moved forward toward new horizons. Standing: George Argus (president), John Hertzfeldt (treasurer), Jim Figler (vice-president) . Seated: Roberta Cherechinsky (secre- tary), Miss Emily Johnson (sponsor). Page Sixteen
