Seniors 1944 In the fall of 1943 GRC welcomed the freshman, the Class of ’47. Under the guid- ance of Miss Ida Iversen, the students chose Jim Eggers, president; Bob Tallman, vice- president; Sally Roberts, secretary; and Arthur Powell, treasurer. The Freshies” made known their ' enthu- siasm and perserverance by topping the magazine subscription drive. The first social function of the class was a Freshman mixer. Their initial school dance, The Victory Stamp,” followed. 1945 Under the leadership of President Paul Voreacos, Vice-President Dave Roberts, Sec- retary Donna Stumph, and Treasurer Mack Foreman, the sophomores prepared for their Thanksgiving dance, The Cranberry Crawl.” The class abandoned tradition to select its motto, flower, and colors in the sophomore year. The class history was recorded as it was made. 1946 As the junior year became a reality, the class elected Dave Roberts, president; Art Gasenica, vice-president; Mary Jane Quinn, secretary; and Joe Dolak, treasurer. Following the Valentine Vamp,” the class 19 4 7 dance, the junior play, a comedy named Help Yourself,” became another noteworthy success. Breaking tradition, the class held the prom, Moonbeam Mist,” at Madura’s Danceland, June 7. 1947 Feeling that once again capable offiicers would help them accept the responsibility of leadership, the Senior Class named Ted Wiley, president; Mack Foreman, vice-presi- dent; Donna Faye Stumph, secretary; and Arthur Powell, treasurer. The class presented its Christmas dance, Winter Wonderland,” without an orchestra. Double Door,” a mystery drama, proved a hit. Twins Sally and Dave Roberts were the DAR winners. For the first time in GRC history co-vale- dictorians were named. They were Ted W iley and Bill Vobach. And so as another graduating class passes through the portals of George Rogers Clark, it will proceed into the hazy expectations of the future, but the Class of ' 47 has left its indelible mark in the history of its Alma Mater. SENIOR OFFICERS SPONSOR Standing: Edwin Wiley (president), Miss Ida Iversen (sponsor), Arthur Powell (treasurer). Seated: Mack Foreman (vicc-presi- den), Donna Faye Stumph (secre- tary).
