By attaining these goals, we wdll be Ready to answer all bells. To accomplish this mission, we will: • Train departmental personnel to the highest standards of professionalism in the accomplishment of normal operations and casualty control. In support of operational training, we will support each mem- ber of the department in the pursuit of basic and advanced technical training. • Aggressively pursue design standards of operation in all equipment. To achieve this goal we will in- spect, document, and correct deficiencies as they are discovered. When possible, we will encourage the growth of our own people by making our own repairs. When necessary, we will employ shore-based • maintenance and technical assets to accomplish maintenance beyond the organizational level of repair. • Adhere to formal, approved procedures in the accomplishment of all evolutions. Where formal guid- ance does not exist, we will prepare procedures for review and approval by appropriate authority. • Promote the team concept, working together to support the command ' s mission of prompt, sustained, and fierce operations at sea. 43

Engineering Dept CHIEF ENGINEER-Lieutenant Randy Bennett entered Naval service in March 1977. He has served aboard a fast attack sub- marine, a Nimitz-class carrier, a fast combat support ship, a Leahy-class cruiser, and an amphibious transport dock. He was commis- sioned as an Engineering Limited Duty Of- ficer in 1991 and earned his Surface Warfare Officer qualification in 1992. He is a graduate of the FFG-7 Limited DutyAVarrant Engi- neer Officer course at Surface Warfare Of- ficer Schools Command, Newport, RL Prior to his current assignment, he served as Dock- ing Officer in STEADFAST (AFDM-14).
