8 Homecoming ‘87 got off to an ex plosive start and by the end of the week the whole school was in Spirit’’ was the word of the week. All of the classes were com- peting against each other in events such as powder-puff football, pie- eating contest, and tug-of-war. The competition ended at the pep-rally and as tradition would have it, the seniors received the Spirit stick opirit week was quite successful “Everything was different from last year, the whole school worked to- gether to make it better than last year,’ said senior Lucia Gonzalez opirit week was tipped off by the Freshmen and their red and white mint day. The Sophomore Class de- cided that they would challenge the faculty to a Tug-of-War. The Senior Day was celebrated with a special luncheon served by Dr. Thoms and Dr. Tan- nenbaum The pep-rally on Friday night was a show of all classes. The energy and excitement of the students was obvious by their show of spirit. The High School was beaten out by the hungry Middle School in the pie- eating contest. Even so, a deter- mined effort was put out by eve- ryone. Next came the Competition for g.? a i. - the Spirit Stick. It ended in a tie- breaker between the Juniors and the Seniors in which the Seniors were overwhelmingly victorious. sophomore Vanessa Courts said. “This year seemed more exciting than last.’’ This was obvious throughout the week with all the hard work and effort put forth by all the classes. The end came at the bonfire; while the football team led students in cheers, people began to focus on the events of the coming day.
