8 Homecoming ‘87 got off to an ex plosive start and by the end of the week the whole school was in Spirit’’ was the word of the week. All of the classes were com- peting against each other in events such as powder-puff football, pie- eating contest, and tug-of-war. The energy and excitement of the students was obvious by their show of spirit. The High School was beaten out by the hungry Middle School in the pie- eating contest. Even so, a deter- mined effort was put out by eve- ryone. Next came the Competition for g.? a i. - the Spirit Stick. It ended in a tie- breaker between the Juniors and the Seniors in which the Seniors were overwhelmingly victorious. sophomore Vanessa Courts said. “This year seemed more exciting than last.’’ This was obvious throughout the week with all the hard work and effort put forth by all the classes. The end came at the bonfire; while the football team led students in cheers, people began to focus on the events of the coming day.
