BASKETBALL Agony of defeat. Huh? In a repeat of last year, the girls’ varsity basket- ball team suffered a disappointing loss to Loudoun County in the district tournament and finished in second place for the season. The season saw continual improvement of all players, with an especially strong contingent of juniors seeing action. Several freshmen made the team and showed promise as future starters . The team, coache d by Mrs. Bradd, found an increasing number of spectators in attendance at the games. The team’s overall record was 8-7. Kari Gathercoal and Cindy Holcomb were among those players elected to the All-District Girls’ Varsity Basketball team. 23
