Cuts usually are not a worry for po- tential JV Football players, but this year Coach Mark Benson got such a large turn- out that he was forced to limit the numbers on the team. Unfortunately quantity does not al- ways indicate victory: the team suffered from acute inexperience and a lack of physical size, playing teams which drew primarily their Freshmen and Sopho- mores from a larger pool. By the end of the season, some JV players moved up to varsity to fill in for injured players. Sophomore Scott Bradley and Fresh- man Petie Mattson starred on offense and defense respectively.

Coach Charles Harold's Soccer Team nearly captured a championship, while starting eleven men most of whom were seniors. Due to a late season loss to Washington-Lee, the Varsity placed sec- ond in the Northern Virginia Soccer League, behind Yorktown. Even so, the team had the best over- all record in Northern Virginia. Many in- dividuals received awards for excellence. Captain Andy DuPont, Vice-Captain Jeff Lundy and Junior Zeyad Sarsour were selected to the NVSL All-Star Team. DuPont, capping a brilliant high school career was named the Outstanding Defen- sive Player in the Metropolitan area. While losing so many starters could be a major obstacle next year, Coach Harold had no reason to be in the dol- drums. An undefeated JV squad will surely replenish the ranks. Soccer Record Besl Danielo Garcia runs into difficulty on his way down field Dan Hoke directs a perfect pass to Robbie Werth. Lorenzo Rocca blunts a crucial Yorktown drive.
