Five New Teachers Shape Department The curriculum of the Social Studies Department is second only to that of the English Department in its variety. Ranging from the old staples — U.S. and Va. Gov- ernment, Geography and U.S. and Va. History, it extends to a wide range of stimulating electives — Psychology, International Rela- tions, Social Problems, Civics and Economics. Sporting five new teachers, the Department employed new and unorthodox methods of in- struction; once the students be- came accustomed to them, things went smoothly. Co-ordinating current events with a thorough understanding of the past, the Social Studies De- partment helped us understand a complicated election year. CHARLES HAROLD M.A., Glasgow University.
