Text from Pages 1 - 162 of the 1967 volume:

V I ‘‘A |l : | ' rj . ■ ' : . It is our sincere wish that as you turn the pages of this book that it will re-tell the story of the achieve- ments and activities of our school during the 1988-67 school season. We also hope that it will, in time, be a. priceless source of entertain- ment and fond remembrances. Maturing and progressing so rapidly, we feel that it is neces- sary to have this type of reminder that has recorded this year ' s numer- ous endeavors and momentous ac- complishments. Unto the red rock hills of old North Granville In a village wall from days of old. Stands a school of truth and culture With its colors of green and gold. Her symbol represents goodness, love and beauty; Where each strives to do one ' s duty, for great is Shaw and great to be praised. And we shall strive each our banners to raise. Hail Shaw High, Oh dear Shaw High! Thy honor be; our praise to thee we give, May honesty, loyalty through the years, in Memory forever live. To Mr. George E, Wood, who has served as the first: and only principal of G. C. Shaw High School , we, the members of the class of 1987, dedicate our yearbook. W e have been greatly inspired by your loyal ty , ableness, resourcefulness, idealism and contribution of service to mankind. We sincerely hope that this tribute will serve as a memorandum to him for the inspiration he has given so many individuals. %atcc a£d TMcddafe ' Wtsi. dfie ztye S 2$® d Truly life can be beautiful as one faces the challenges of each new day — the challenges which make life interesting and worthwhile. There seems to be an added thrill in living now in this age of ' century- old dreams come true’. As birds fly, men do, too. Man walks the pathways of the earth as he prepares to land on the moon. However, as men of all regions strive in their own ways for solutions to the perplexing problems of the day, the brilliant beauty of the universe continues to shine eternally. The challenge comes to everyone, to ever see that which is of beauty in the earth, and to look only to the good in all who live thereon. Where there is stumbling-give a helping hand. Where there is darkness— light a candle. The Senior Class of this school, as well as all the classes of young people in all the lands of the earth, are the keepers of tomorrow ' s world. What a delightful world this turns out to be, when after doing all the good one can, in the very best way one can, it is discovered that life can be both wonderful and beautiful. Congratulations to each of you! 1 want you to knew, that I have enjoyed working with you and my greatest happiness and pleasure will come when you have succeeded and done your best. So please do not end your education when you graduate. Opportunities for further education are very numerous. A high school education is just not suf- ficient for you to cope in today’s world. Miss B. Crews Office Secretary mm. On behalf of the entire yearbook staff, may I take this opportunity to express our appreciation for your support and confidence. Without your support we know that we could not have succeeded in completing our annual. We hope that this book will serve as a convenient doorway by which you may enter our school and be- come acquainted with it and its pupils. We have attempted to record a wonderful year of prestige and progress. We hope that you will enjoy re-living that year with us, time and time again.
