ROBERTS, AB and MA Before assuming the administrative duties of our ever- growing school district, Mr. Roberts taught and coached at Genoa. Along with our new high school Mr. Roberts finally got his own office. The jobs and duties of a school superintendent seem endless. What little spare time that he has, Mr. Roberts spends bowling, golfing, and knitting. LINDA SORG Mrs. Sorg has worked in the high school office ever xg ' ' if ' T' since graduation. Scott, D. Marsh, C. Dunn, E. Lorenzon JAMES FIRESTONE, BS Miss Blausey is the principal of our new high school. She has the unique distinction of being the only woman principal in our league. She has done a masterful job of keeping our school running smooth- ly. She is always willing to help any student who needs assistance. Mr. Firestone is a product of Ash- land College. His students like his sociology classes the best. After eight years here he has accumu- lated many duties. Athletic Direc- tor and head football coach are two while his newest duy is being Genoa's first Guidance Counselor. During the summer he worked on his master's at T. U. Miss Lynette Hoeft graduated from Genoa last year. She filled the void of high school secretary created when Linda went with Mr. Roberts. Social Studies Form Citizenship JOHN B. SHERK, BS and MA Mr. Sherk just completed his master's at B. G. S.U. this sum- mer. He has been teaching government and world history here for four years. His classes are spiced up by his frequent referrals to his army life. Mr. Sherk is one of our senior ad- visors and helps with Baccalau- reate and Commencement. DAVID MILLER, BS and BA Mr. Miller completed his sec- ond year of teaching at our school this year. In addition to his regular American history, American literature, and soci- ology classes, "Coach" Miller took over the reigns of our new ly formed bowling teams this year. Mr. Miller is also a freshman class advisor. ROBERT SIEREN. BS in Ed. This is Mr. Sieren's fifth year at Genoa. His duties include teaching biology, world his- tory, and physical education. He has attended Defiance, B. G. S. U., and T. U. Mr. - Sieren's outside interest is scouting in which he is quite active. . QQ -:.iZ-- . ., .i ?A9 . JAMES LUALLEN. BS in Ed. Mr. Luallen teaches algebra, trig, and solid geometry. He is also head track coach. "The Bear," as he is sometimes re- ferred to, attended Kent State University last summer for a course in modern mathematics. He was one of the few teachers in Ohio selected to attend these classes. ,f wi ' n JIM NOVOTNY. BS in Ed. Mr. Novotny has been teaching chemistry and physics at Genoa for six years. He is quite in- terested in photography. In his spare time he operates a coin- stamp store. Mr. Novotny is a graduate of B. G. S. U. JOE BOLANDER, BS in Ed. Mr. Bolander taught and coached at Clyde High School before he came here. Besides teaching general science and biology, he also coaches the reserve football and basketball teams. In his spare time he enjoys orinthology qbird-watch ingj. This summer he was the athletic director at Veterans' Memorial Park in Genoa. Math and Science Explore Physical Worlds n I u A PHYLLIS WOOD, BA Mrs. Wood is quite familiar to anyone who has used the school library. She always knows just where to look for that some- thing you need for your theme. Before coming to Genoa he was a time study engineer for Kaiser Willys. It seems that he can hear a basketball bouncing a mile away. He is head basketball coach, and anything that concerns basket- ball you can bet that he will be there. Mr. Bondy is also a very good bowler. it seas.-,alt Mn '.. ERMA JOHNSON. BS in Ed. Miss Johnson has devoted all her life to teaching. Since she teaches both American and English literature, it's little wonder that she says that liter- ature just fascinates her. She really enjoys her job and work- ing with young people. ALICE DAVID . BA Mrs. David is Dean of Girls, senior advisor, yearbook ad- visor, and teaches English. She spent part of her summer as the art advisor for the Girl Scout Camp at Kel1y's Island. cquaint Us With Cultural Life VERLIN EASH, BS in Ed. "Chief" is our band director. He has been with us for 10 years. Mr. Eash has many hob- bies. Some of them are golf- ing, hiking, camping, and horseback riding. He was en- joying the latter when he broke his arm. which slowed him down for only a week or two last s1 r HERBERT GREUNKE, BS and MA in Mus. Mr. Greunke has been teaching vocal music at Genoa for 4 years. ln his spare time he col lects records and he is also the organist at St. Peter's Lutheran Church. Last summer he spent several days at Interlocken Music Camp. 25 -Nr THELMA D'ALMAINE, BS and MA Mrs. D'Almaine spent her sum- mer in Europeg while there she attended La Sorboune in Paris. "And I'm ready to tell you" is a favorite expression of hers. When class starts you never know what interesting thing she is ready to tell you, and yet we still manage to finish our lesson too. She taught at Lima Senior High and Memorial High School in St. Mary's, Ohio, before coming to Genoa. Mrs. Urhammer has done a lot for girls' sports here at Genoa. The girls' track team was her idea. JEAN CHAMBERS, BS Mrs. Chambers, a Bowling Green graduate, is in her first year of teaching at Genoa. She was a housewife until this year. She still likes to bake and sew when she has the chance. Her job, teaching bookkeeping, general business, and math, keeps her busyg she is also co-advisor of the FBLA. Last summer she did some traveling with her family. RAY THOMPSON. BS in Agriculture Mr. Thompson is an alumnus of Ohio State University. He teaches vocational agriculture and general math. His summer was spent building his new house He was ably assisted by his neighbor-to-be and fellow teach er, Mr. Eash. We hope you en- joy your new home. Vocational studies help prepar CHARLES JOHNSON, BS Mr. Johnson has been teaching industrial arts and mechanical drawing at Genoa for 18 years. He has directed some very fine junior class plays, too. During the summer he does carpenter work and finishing. She is the advisor for FHAg she also plans the menus for the cafeteria. At prom time she is very busy helping the juniors with the Junior-Senior Prom. JUDY HOEFT. BS Mrs. Hoeft is the advisor for the school paper, Comet Talesg she is also the advisor for the FBLA, the business club. She loves to read in her spare time. Last summer she attended BGSU.
