operation received from the Y. M. C. A. which has made it possible for us to use both its gym- nasium and its swimming pool. Company K cooperates with the High School by giving instruc- tion in military drill to members of the High School Victory Corps. About sixty G. H. S. students have taken courses this year at our local defense school to prepare them for taking their places at the benches of the local defense plants during the com- ing summer. Five of these are girls. One of the biggest undertakings of the student body is the mobile canteen, sponsored by the high school and to be presented to the city. Designed by the men of the industrial arts department with the advice of homemaking teachers, built by the boys and instructors of shop classes, equipped and sponsored by a committee appointed by the student council, financed by Junior Red Cross, the F. F. A., several Hi-Y groups, and by interested friends, the canteen as a war project is a fine example of eo-operative service. Along with this we are pleased to recognize the service done the government through the model airplane building. Approximately one hun- dred of such models have been built since December 7th, 1941. Many other services rendered by our students and their teachers cover such a wide range of civilian defense activities as air raid and fire warden service, rationing, stamp and bond sales, salvage work, and farm work. At present one hundred thirty-five G. H. S. students own war savings bonds, 317,634-.39 has been raised here through the sale of stamps and bonds, five students were awarded special honors for their work in the salvage program, while about fifty percent of our student body participated at some time or other in the fall farm work program. We are proud that this more difficult work was backed up by litany faculty members not only with their inspira- tion but with much perspiration. Last but not least, we are proud to call attention to Geneva High Schools' Roll of Honor----those whose names you can read in this annual. The greatest sacrifice and service has been theirs, of them all we are truly proud. Humbly, we admit that o11r actual service has fallen far short of what might have been.
