She thought she was all through with baby-sitting, and that she has a wonderful date with Bob all set. Bob can hardly force out the words to tell her that he's under strict parental orders to break this date! His folks have cracked down because he gets in so late from his dates with Carrie. They don't realize that Bob has just been staying up to see her home safely from her sitting jobs. Then a sudden emergency arises. Bob's folks have an important engagement and their baby-sitter can't come. Carrie offers to take the job. She doesn't realize what a little devil she's being left to watch. Junior gets Carrie suspected of twisting his arm and blames her for breaking a window. Then Junior swallows either a mushroom or a toadstool. Carrie forces every antidote in the medical book down his throat. When the others burst in on this scene, they're convinced Carrie is trying to murder the little darling! The play builds rapidly to a surprising and delightful end with . Carrie "on top of the world. " Bob .... Mother . . Father .... Junior .. Jane . Helen ., Carrie . . . Eunice . . . " "THQ rffwf' 7 Sponsored by BUCKMASTER DRUG STORE and P SENIOR EMoR1E As we look back in memory to the beginning of our education in 1944, we remember a class of 35 prize first grade pupils. Nolan Koons was so smart that Miss Fravel had him stand outside the first grade door several times to wait until the rest of the class caught up with him. Time passed, and we changed little. Sometime during our fifth year, Mark Hylton discovered he liked butterflies and began what Mrs. Augusburger calls an "extraordinary collect1on." fl wonder if someone will ever chase Mark with a nety. During the years, several of our classmates deserted us. However, we found others to replace them, and they have succeeded admirably. A few of the teachers who gravely instructed us in our formative years have disappeared also--those remaining are Miss Fravel, Mrs. Shephard, Mrs. Augusburger, and Mr. Long. ln high school we sold magazines: had bake and noodle sales: and sold candy, pop corn, and cokes during noon hours and ballgameg, We pl'8SCl'lICd IWO P18yS, "Father Knows Best" and "People are Funny", under the direction of Mrs. Rhoades and Mrs. Van Matre. Some of the moments we will always remember are the day we received our class rings fand some of the fellows lost themj, receiving our graduation pictures, sending out graduation announcements with name-cards enclosed, and the night one of our senior fellows tried to sneak in a base- ment window to see a bunch of redheads play basketball. Of course, the happiest and saddest night of all was graduation night, May II--the last time we were together as a class--the night we became alumni of G. H. S. and left the school to go our separate ways. In the play, there are several studio scenes utilizing actual and convulsively funny routines from the radio show. These alone are worth the price of admission, but they are only garnishings for the main plot, which concerns Roscoe Higginbottam, a painfully shy young man, who is a contestant. He is told he will be awarded a convertible coupe if he can succeed, within one week, in making a date with a girl named Betty Vernon, whom he has never seen. Betty has been informed that a mysterious X" will call on her, and Roscoe sets out for her house to present himself as "Mr. X". But, what Roscoe does not know is that Betty has been bombarded by a series of strange gifts. Another fact, which has been kept from Roscoe is that Betty's father is reputed to be the most terrible tempered man in town, having been known to preform physical mayhem upon suitors for his daughter's hand. From this start, the play careens along with never a dull moment in its three fun-filled acts. Sponsored by THE HABIT 8a EDWIN NYFFELER - Chiropractor, Berne, Indiana. FOREWORD Our athletic field, which has proved to be an excellent source of recreation for both the Geneva students and the Geneva townspeople, has been growing steadily each year since its beginning in 1953. The newest additions are the tennis courts, the track, and the basketball court. A summer program, under the direction of Mr. Schutz, has been initiated within the last year. It includes games for younger children, sports of all types, and crafts. Tennis Courts .... . . 1954 Basketball Court. . . . . X955 Track.... ..... ...I956 Page 3 , g?3,L.!4 ,, .MM .....
