Homecoming 1978 Participating in decorating homerooms and other events of the week filled everyone with Bulldog spirit. Alan Wood takes his hat off to Bulldog Lorenzo Hilliard. Filled with excitement, we eagerly awaited October 6. The whole week was a build-up for this special event. What was it? HOMECOMING 1978! From Monday till Friday night the Bulldogs and Bulldog fans got ready for the game against Geneva. Events, such as Grease Day, Hats Off to Bulldogs Day, and Purple and Gold Day, were planned for this special week. A room decorating contest took place with the Senior homerooms winning all the prizes. Mrs. Brannon's room won first place, Mrs. Downing’s room won second, and Coach Chesteen's room won third. Thursday night a bonfire, behind the gym, attracted enthusiastic students. By Friday that great” Bulldog spirit was soaring. School was dismissed at 12:00 p.m. for the annual parade. The band, cars, and floats made the parade a great success. After a pep rally on the square, everyone left with eager expectations of the night's game. Susan Loftin was crowned Homecoming queen in pre-game activities held at Dixie Howell Stadium. At long last, the game began. With the spirit that had mounted over the week, the Bulldogs were confident of a victory. The game was won 46-8. After the game victory, everyone was ready to celebrate. A disco dance in the lunchroom was sponsored by the H-Club. John Dancer, WPFM DJ, played the Top 40 till 1:00 a.m. With homecoming week over, everyone tired, and the Bulldogs’ spirit high, plans were started for the next big game.
