THE 1928 - ,f GEN 5, .1 ofwhreh we had never dreamed th rt anyone would be brave enough to wear were duly presented The I' reshm rn feed and rules were next rn order and who wrll ever forget the thrrlls rnd fears that recompanred these el rss actrvrtres9 Football came next and took upsomeofour trrne,three fourthsofour conversa tron rnd all ofour lung power Geneva s success was great that ye rr as throughout the succeedrng seasons ofour college career, and one soon notrced the very evrdent rnll rtron of the chest as we spoke of our team Basketball and track lrkewrse held our rntense rnterest rnd rt took not a great whrle for us to att rrn th rt elusrve qu rlrty of college lrfe known as Geneva bprrrt fhe class of 28 early made rts rmpressron along lrter rry lrnes when Strub Tenor, Krrk Reader, Potts, and M rt? were selected on the varsrty men s debatrng team vwhrle Mrsses Yates and McCan represented us on the grrl s team Erght freshmen on the varsrty teams a most rrnusu rl record Norman Webster was the trr state orator from Geneva and h rs held that posrtron of honor for three years wrnnrng for us rn rny l rurels P xams c rme and went, and more often than not left us rather C srck Sprrng c rme wrth her usual aceompanrments track meets, themes, book revrews, sprrng fever rnd cases That year for the Hrst trme rn several years a grrl s Glee Club was org rnrzed and brd farr to become an rmportant factor rn college lrfe bummer was upon us and September close upon ltS heels, whrch found us Sophomores rnd fully cognrzant of our posrtron We were soon engaged rn the tr rrnrng rnd drscrplrne of many lrttle Freshmen, and we drscovered that they, too, h rd rn them the m rkrng of loyal Geneva sons and d rughters Freshmen regulr rrons were formed and many were rmtrated rnto the loyal order of the Postage St rmp vrrth the ard of gentle pressure on our part By thrs trme college lrfe had become more or less ofa routrne, but we felt as rlwrys 1 keen enjoyment The hrgh lrght of the season was the dedrcatron of Reeves Stadrum, one of whreh rny school mrght well be proud lt w rs our pleasure that ye rr to banquet the class of 26 and thrs most atrr rc trve rffarr w rs held rn the Beaver Valley Country Club By the trme we became unrors we wondered how the school had ever exrsted wrthout us We were proud of our representatrves rn all helds of college actrvrty ln athlctrcs o'ne sees many names wrrtten large Maglrsceau, Meyers, Haude, Ewrng I lovd, Rubenstern, and Butler have been lumrnarres rn Geneva s athletrcs Nor should we forget Chester Laughrey who has so rhythmrcally drrected our bursts of energy Now we rre Senrors, havrng clrmbed the four year hrll, upon whose brow we now stand rnd contemplate the past Many our hopes great our ambrtrons, and splendrd md hne the frrendshrps we h rve formed Now we too go out to Jorn the ranks of those who have gone before Iftrue sons rre jewels r mother adormng, resplendent may our Alma Mater's brow be wrth the lrght whrch her sons and daughters of the class of nrneteen hundred and twenty erght wrll reflect upon her through the Hneness of therr achrevements Turnlrl crqh! ff, ' 5' 'X - 1 ' ,. . .' A Senior Class Hlstory Was it many years ago or just yesterday that morning in mid-September ofthe year 24 when supremely conscious ofthe fact that we were Freshmen, we attended the opening chapel service in the auditorium? We had secretly determined that we would saunter into the chapel with the utmost nonchalance and casually seat ourselves just as though we had been doing that for years. But at the door a strange feeling of newness crept over us-why?-we did notjust know, but be that as it may by the time we had stumbled into seats we knew we looked as green as WC ICIICW WC WC,l'C. I President Pearce s speech that morning gave us an inkling as to what we might expect of college and what college would expect of us.
