Witnesses: Signed pwtkw 13 - Wfafuf WMM '55 in H 1 5 L74 5 filkfory On September 6, 1951, 15 green but eager freshmen entered the halls of Gaylord high school ready to receive their high school education. Although the upperclassmen had few hopes for them, they managed to survive the ini- tiation and also had two successful class parties. The class president was Delmer Meyer with Mrs. Cole as sponsor. The next year found them one step away from upperclassmen, but still struggling hard. Gary Roe was elected presidentg Loretta Wilson, vice pres- identg and Roger Nichols, secretary and treasurer. This year they had the pleasure of having Mrs. Conrad as their sponsor. The class lost one member, Helen Manion, who got married, but gained another when Connie Miller came from Colorado, making the class again fifteen. At last 19533 they became upperclassmen. They lost one member at the beginning of the year, Shirley Bell, who quit school to get married. They honored the seniors with a beautiful banquet in the spring, using 'Arctic Dreamlandn as the theme. They also gave a play, WHillbi11y Courtship,' No- vember 3, under direction of Francis Roe, who was their sponsor. Class of- ficers for the junior year were: president, Don Dannenbergg vice president, Lucille Kochg secretary and treasurer, Gary Roe. One of the three cheer- leaders came from this class, Connie Miller. As to the last year, it was busiest year of all. At the beginning of the year they were engaged in choosing their announcements, and cards, and in November they had their pictures taken. This year the officers were: president, Don Dannenbergg vice president, Lucille Kochg secretary and treasurer, Arlene Sasseg and sponsor, Richard Clearman. One member of the senior class, Gary Roe, moved to Downs. One cheer- leader came from this class, Loretta Wilson. In the spring they presented a class play. The last of their exciting days in the halls of old GHS was the junior senior banquet which was toward the end of the school year. The senior class members would like to pay their respects to John E. Cole for his attentive sponsorship in guiding them through their four years of GHS. CLASS MOTTO A winner never quits, and a quitter never wins.
