DELEGATES FIEPRESENT OUR SCHOGL M1 ,fi 1 X if Cathy Fordyce and Carrie May, two girls of the Senior The following Senior girls, Cathy Backus, Nancy Cor Class and Patricia Wallace QNOT PICTUREDJ attended bin, and Cinda Elswick were the Glrl's State alternates. Girl's State at Jackson's Mill. Happiness and grateful smiles always shine on the faces of students when they are recognized for outstan- ding achievement in various categories. This year many Seniors received various awards of recognition. Three outstanding girls did a fine job in representing Gauley Bridge High by attending Girl's State at Jackson's Mill. Cathy Fordyce was sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary, Carrie May was sponsored by the Kanuga Club, and the Charlton Heights Woman's Club sponsored Patricia Wallace. Cathy Backus, Nancy Corbin, and Cin- da Elswick were the alternates for Glrl's State who would have attended if one of the chosen delegates failed to go. Another great achievement this year was the attending of a Science Seminar at The U.S. Naval Academy by John Holland and Ricardo Aguilar. Students competed from all parts of the country to fill the few limited openings. Perhaps one of the greatest John Holland and Ricardo Aguilar attended a science seminar at the U.S changes this year took place inside the Navai Academy' football program. This year's mighty Travellers made it tothe finals of the State tournament. Receiving highly acclaimed honors this year were Hop Shepherd and Mark Grimmett by making the first team All-State team. One of the greatest awards In the country was received by Hop when he was selected as an all American.
