n GAULEY GAGE TEAIVI ENJOYS PFIODUCTIVE SEASON Our Traveller basketballers enjoyed a very productive season this year with several overwhelm- ing victories. As Gauley knocked off their worthy opponents week after winning week, the Travellers earned a lit- tle bit of recognition beyond the area. The Big Red Machine stayed in high gear all year long and carried that momentum throughout the post-season tournaments. The Travellers were led by some outstanding personnel. Don Meadows was the anchor man for Gauley's inside strength. The big six foot six senior scored over 1,000 points, the third Traveller to do so. Guards, Randy Arthur and Mark Grimmett, did an excellent job assisting on numerous scores for Gauley. The senior ballhandlers have kept the Travellers rolling. Alton Dillard and Hop Shepherd provided the much needed spark at the forward positions. These two seniors made plays in crucial situations. ln many games the Travellers' rebounding strength came from Meadows, Dillard, and Grimmett, as the trio crashed the boards constantly. A strong bond of unity tied the talents of this years ball club to produce one of Gauley's best seasons. Gauley's Mark Grimmett goes up and over Valley defender for two pts.
