1042663 Cfaaa ,Maier The senior class entered their freskman year fourteen strong. They were: Lorena Demlne, Carolyn BrejCha, Gloria Athey, Ruby Mills, Joanne Lake, Art Lake, Jack Oliver, Wilmer Crites, Milton Knapp, Earle I-Ienness, and Marlin Cole. All of us have participated in most of the school activi- ties. Lorena' Devine and Carolyn BrejCha were chosen yell leaders during our freshman year. Our sophcmore year found us deeper in the web of high school activi- ties. I-Ie lost two of our students, Milton Knapp and Rxby Mills, but we regained our number with Cleta Masoner and Richard Mitchell. Bob Lee ern- tered the class in April, 1950. Wilmer Crites, Earle Henness, Richard Mitchell, Jack Oliver, Bob Van Eaton, and Marlin Cole made the basketball team of 'L9 and '50, Lorena Devine, Carolyn BrejCha, Cleta Masoner, and Marlin Cole participated :Ln the high school play, Henpecked Henry. 'I'he start of the Junior year found us with Lorena, Carolyn, Jack, Wil- mer, Bob, Earle, Ed, Marlin, and one newcaner, Maxine Schoeder. Five of the Junior boys made the basketball team. They were: Bob, Wimp, Earle, Jack, and Marlin. All five of the boys plus Edward made the baseball team. Each one of the girls was active in the Girls Athletic Association. Lorena was elected secretary. The Junior-Senior play, Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, included all of the juniors. This year we inaugurated the Senior Banquet and Pran. We all worked hard and with the help of Mrs, Wood and our mothers it was a success, We started our last and final year at good old Gates with about the same crop of kids as last year, Carolyn left us at the beginning of the year and moved to Taft where she went to school during the .first semester. The second senester she returned and finished school with us. Marlin Cole, Lorena Devine, and Wilmer Crites were elected, President, Vice President, and Sergeant at Arms of our Student Body this year. This ends the class history but our memories will linger. 1042663 Judi an jdfamenf We, the class of Nineteen Hundred and Fifty-two of Gates High School, being in our right minds Csuch as they arel, and as we depart down the road of toil trying to find the stair steps to fame, we want to leave sane of our priceless possessions and positions, which we accumulated during our tem at Gates High School. Article I Section I To the faculty we leave our dainty appetites, and the book writ- ten by the senior class entitled How Not to Give Tough Assignments. Section II To our Ehglish teacher, Mrs. Wood, who by the way, is the eaSiSSt person we know to talk into playing Charades during E1181iS1'1.019-:Bn W' leave the book How to Keep A Straight Face When T1ZYil'18 to B9 Strict' section III 'ro our Principal non mley, we leave squealsr shoes so time in his classes will have time to ditch the answer books before he gets there. Section IV To Mrs. McMullen we leave the book How to Outsmart Your Lawyer Husband. We also want to leave a good mechanic to ride around with her while she's driving a Chevrolet car. Section V To our teacher and coach, Mr. Means, we leave five, seven foot boys and plenty of subs so he can win state championship in basketball next year. We also want to leave him a heavier car so the boys ca.n't put it on the dI'inlCl.nE fountain again. Article II Section I To the Juniors, we leave our ability to earn money the easy way. To them we also leave the book How to Break Out of San Q1entin. Section II To the Sophcmores we leave the back seats on the school busses, with the intention that they will use than as we did. CP.S. Don't forget the Freshnen have bib eyes and mouths.J Section III To the Freshnen we leave our bottle of tonic which improves your physioue and looks. Section IV To the Junior High students we leave a box of licorice cigars. Article III The Seniors leave to anyone who may wish to look at than our Sen- ior Class pictures, which may be found in the Hall of Fame on the wall. Article IV Individual.l.y we leave the following: I, Earle Henness, H to Jerry my one extra large girdle. I, Bob Lee, will to Mervin Haun one old dirty scratchy com cob. I, Wimp Crites, leave my screw ball to Herbert Rcmey. I, Ed Rcmey, leave the Student Body a stack of bananas. I, Carolyn Bre,'jCha, wiJ.l to Leslie my ability to get twos when I deserve ones, and to Betty, my volleyball ability. I, Mascine Schoeder, will my flirting way to Joan R., and my well-groaned hair to Herb. I, Marlin Cole, will my toni hair-do and my right handed hook shots to Bob Devine. I, Lorena Devine , will my yell leading position to next year's yell lead- er, and my ability to get on the honor roll each 6 weeks to Betty T.
