“1042663 Cfaaa ,Maier The senior class entered their freskman year fourteen strong. They were: Lorena Demlne, Carolyn BrejCha, Gloria Athey, Ruby Mills, Joanne Lake, Art Lake, Jack Oliver, Wilmer Crites, Milton Knapp, Earle I-Ienness, and Marlin Cole. All of us have participated in most of the school activi- ties. Lorena' Devine and Carolyn BrejCha were chosen yell leaders during our freshman year. Our sophcmore year found us deeper in the web of high school activi- ties. I-Ie lost two of our students, Milton Knapp and Rxby Mills, but we regained our number with Cleta Masoner and Richard Mitchell. Bob Lee ern- tered the class in April, 1950. Wilmer Crites, Earle Henness, Richard Mitchell, Jack Oliver, Bob Van Eaton, and Marlin Cole made the basketball team of 'L9 and '50, Lorena Devine, Carolyn BrejCha, Cleta Masoner, and Marlin Cole participated :Ln the high school play, Henpecked Henry. 'I'he start of the Junior year found us with Lorena, Carolyn, Jack, Wil- mer, Bob, Earle, Ed, Marlin, and one newcaner, Maxine Schoeder. Five of the Junior boys made the basketball team. They were: Bob, Wimp, Earle, Jack, and Marlin. All five of the boys plus Edward made the baseball team. Each one of the girls was active in the Girls Athletic Association. Lorena was elected secretary. The Junior-Senior play, Our Hearts Were Young and Gay, included all of the juniors. This year we inaugurated the Senior Banquet and Pran. We all worked hard and with the help of Mrs, Wood and our mothers it was a success, We started our last and final year at good old Gates with about the same crop of kids as last year, Carolyn left us at the beginning of the year and moved to Taft where she went to school during the .first semester. The second senester she returned and finished school with us. Marlin Cole, Lorena Devine, and Wilmer Crites were elected, President, Vice President, and Sergeant at Arms of our Student Body this year. This ends the class history but our memories will linger.
