}-■. mm I i. I Gastonia, North Carolina Foreword Centennial Anniversary of Gaston County 1846-1946 We have chosen the Centennial Anniversary of Gaston County as the theme of our 1946 Spinner. From the early days of the simple Piedmont colonists through the era of industrial growth and the development of transportation in its course, and finally through the modern culture of the day, a definite pattern has been gradually formulated by which the lives of our thousands of inhabitants have been influenced. We live today with the joy of knowing that our historical background is as glamorous and as full of prestige as that of any other county, do us, the living past should aid in further- ing and realizing the accomplishments that our forefathers realized. Nineteen forty-six marks the Centennial Anniversary of the founding of Gaston County. Thus inspired by one hun- dred years of progress and development. Gaston County will continue to thrive and will ulti- mately be a leader. 0 To these men representative of the builders of Gaston County, whose indomitable energy and tact made possible the development of our coun- ty, whose endless professional accomplishments have inspired us, whose leadership in their re- spective fields has guided us, we dedicate this centennial anniversary edition of the 1946 Spinner. iJl liclp RED LION Sr ' O rANDSRI GASnUNE-gtu 1 n .t ji HI Mr. Frank L.
