ON THE MARCH This has been one of the most successful years the Gaston Band has had in some time. The Band began this eventful year by putting on top-notch half-time performances at the Red Devil football games. These perform- ances eonsisted of pageantry shows and precision drills. Among the shows the band put on were "Show Boatf' A'Trum- pet Blues," and i'Stormy XVeather." and a pre-game show crowning the Band Sweetheart, Miss Shirley Nations, before the Troup game. In between football games the band found time to accept invitations to the Tyler Rose Festival, Band Day at Austin, and the Homecoming of Stephen F. Austin at Nacogdoches. Also due to the Red Devil football team, the Band journeyed to Cedar Bayou where they put on another top performance and spent the night in the homes of the Cedar Bayou Band. The Band elimaxed its marching season by winning a first divi- sion at the marching contest at White Oak. '15 A, 41, , A , ' yu V- ,.. .. wg 1-'v"?Qtt i J 1"T'f ,gil-f I.
