A 1, W, ,.,-,-f'w,...v-ve aw f - f K W ex iii I OUR SENIOR TRIP On October 7, We Gaston Seniors, journeyed with Albany Seniors to Washington, New York City, Niagara Falls and Canoda. We stayed in the Pittsburgher Hotel in Pittsburgh, and then journeyed to Washington and visited Gettysburg, The Capital, Lee's Mansion, the Jefferson Memorial, the Congressional Library, and Mount Vernon. We went inside the Church that George Washington had attended, then visited the Smithsonian Institute, Supreme Court, Lincoln Memorial, Washington Monument, passed the Memorial Centennial Hall and saw the Arlington Memorial Bridge. We saw the tomb ot' the unknown soldier and also the changing of guards at this tomb. New York City was next with the Empire State Building, Diamond Horseshoe, and the "Queen Mary" clocking, a three hour boat tour around Manhattan Island, the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and United Nations Building. After the boat tour we went through the Bowery and then to Chinatown. We were glad to get out. We were scared. We went into a Chinese Temple and the guide explained their religion. Later at Niagara we boarded the "Maid ot' the Mist" ship which showed us the Falls. We headed toward Canada and then home again. We will never target the bowling and entertainment at Radio City and the Johnny Olson show. The trip is over but the memories will live tor a long time yet to come. mlm -V - C... 8 ,.mA:Xs.w-1-.., SE ICDRS 2 2 2 5 Ti 5 3 .- 3 71 2 3 6 '15 ii m lI2dh'24"f-.-'r.'. , WVR. I stopped to view the attraction and went into a building, formerly the fire station, which had a sign entitled "Miss Beverly's School of Musical Arts." Much to my surprise I found Beverly Blazier giving a concert. After the coneert was over, Beverly invited me to join her for a cup of coffee at Lambert's Restaurant. I learned the latest about Gaston's Class of I95I . Don Bennett now owns the dairy once known as Producers and has also bought out Covalts. Margaret Uohnsonl and Jerry Needler are now residing in California near the base. Margaret is busy looking after Jerry, Jr. , age 5. Ed Wright is president of the "Flying Farmers." He owns the largest plane in Indiana. Jean iWestI and Jim Mauck are doing a fine iob as morticians, and they farm in their spare time --- a large undertaking! Tom Glass and Wilma Sells are now married. Tom works for the John Deere Tractor Corporation. Charline Rehme's famous painting entitled "Stuff and Nonsense," which looks somewhat like a bowling alley, hangs in the National Museum of Art. She has also published a book of poetry. Jerry Markins has finished college and has taken Mr. Sears' place as Agriculture teacher and 4-H leader. Roberta Brown has broken the typing speed record. She -works as typist for the F. B. I. and doubles as secret agent when needed. Johnnie Parker is coach at Gaston. His Bulldogs won the Sectional and Regionals and will play in the Semi -finals soon. Mr. and Mrs. Sears are now conducting sight seeing tours all through the United States. I0 A 1 ,. ix V' .5 1 ' r v -.' JUNIOR ACTIVITIES The iuniors have been a very busy class this year. We would like to thank Mr. Cauble for the good iob that he has done as our sponsor. This year we sold the concessions at all of the home ball games: also we were in charge of sell- ing pop corn at the County Tourney. We sponsored a mid-night show, "The Sundowners" at the local theatre. Among the other activities were the Junior Carnival, the Junior Play, serving the Conservation Club, and a scrap drive.
