The instrumental music department's expanding program is providing increasingly better string players to strengthen our orchestra. Both school and community service are considered an integral part of the group's work. Soloists, ensembles, and the full orchestra are much in demand. The Monroe Little Theatre called upon these young musicians to provide the or- chestral accompaniment for their production this season of Oklahoma. Several Garinger High School orchestra members participated in the All-State orchestra, and we are exceedingly proud of those talented students who performed as regular members of the Charlotte Symphony and Charlotte Opera Association orchestras. The state contest, a concert, the musical Carousel, and commencement occupied important places in the groups spring schedule.
