It was my first original embroidery pro- ject. A red-and-blue toy soldier was surrounded by horns and drums. Around the border I put all the words from the song " Santa Claus Is Coming to Town " that I had room for: " Little tin horns and little toy drums, Root-ta toot-toot! " Truly, it was lovely. But the first comment from friends was always, " You left ofi the last line! Where ' s ' Rummy-tum-tum ' ? " Rummy-tum-tum, indeed! Why couldn ' t they praise whut I had put in? Still, I do the same thing myself. I see a hurried, harassed young mother giving her best for children and husband, and I say, " She is a nervous wreck. Why can ' t she slow down? " Or I see a hard- driving dedicated businessman, and I say, " He sure is dull. He has no sense of humor at all. " Other people are one of God ' s most pre- cious and dehghtful gifts to me. Each one is complex and imique. A friend of a lifetime may hold some joyful surprise in his or her character. Each may be trying to accomphsh some worthwhile end. If each has a few faults, let us forget them. Forget Rummy-tum-tum. PRAYER: Dear God, thank You for the infi- nitely valuable gift of other people. Help me remember the love with which You cre- ated each one. Amen. — Taken from a meditation found in Kathy ' s wallet. fii " . ' - X ,yA rO ■i ' ; .
