The satisfaction in doing one's best. FQ IN HESE are the cream of life, the elements of successg they make hard work a pleasure. There is little satisfac- tion in a task less well done than one's capacity permits. There is great joy in ex- ceeding what one supposed was his limit. You, the graduating Seniors, have not achieved a diploma without effort. Those :L who treasure most this document during the coming years are those who have struggled the hardest to win it. Character and success are not attained through slight effort and easily accomplished tasks, but come to those who strive and labor and do not fail. May succeeding years bring even greater accomplishment, more of pleasure, and deeper satisfaction in your life's work than have they, those happy years which you are now completing in Garfield High School. MMMJ . HERBERT S. VVoou, PRINCIPAL DEDICATION C3550 Principe! Herbert S. Wood, who has so quick! y amz' graciously won his may into our affections with his n kind, quiet manner, and who has led us with such success through the past semes- ter, we respectfully dedicate this magazine. 4 CLASS OF W'35 'rs-mes Q O SENIOR LOG Q FOUR A dm fnislralion Bz11'la'1'ng O ALL HAIL TO GARFIELD HIGH Where purple mountains lift their heads 'Neath skies of deepest blue There stands the High School that we love, To her we'll all be true! IK ESSAY ON SENIOR AYES HERE are many reasons why Senior Ayes are sometimes thought to be snobbish. Per- haps it is that we do not wish to force the gravity of our years upon the playful innocence of the un- dergraduates, perhaps it is because we are such a soulful lot we go around with our heads in the clouds, or perhaps it is because we know so much that the silly prattle of the lower classes does not affect us. However just or unjust the accusation, we come to this point: Our time in the clouds is nearly over. We have worked to get there fplayed tool and we have been happy there. We shall probably come down to earth with a great big bang. and perhaps you will hear no more about us for a few years until the day when we will all be presi- dents and senators, doctors and lawyers, teachers and journalists. ditch diggers and street sweepers.
