In an after school meet the gyrating Ciar- held gym team fought to a tie-75-75 with the Roughriders. Tree planting day took place on Friday. The olhcers and sponsors of Senior H.-X and li classes had the privilege of actually planting the tree. Roy Morton, a Senior and Opal Napier. Senior MH . recited poems. and XYilliam lieclsman sang the memorahle song. Trees, The Orpheus Cfluh, on Tuesday. March ZH. gave hefore the hoys' division a very en- tertaining musical program. On Friday. the Twenty-third of March. the Garfield cinder- scratchers were defeated in a track meet hy Ietferson to the tune of 62 to -ll The Senior Ayes and Bees. again tried to out-shine each other in the semi-annual senior class party. Dancing and ping-pong were the outstand- ing features of the evening. lf anyone was mystihed hy students care- fully scrutinizing their friends' ears. mouths. or hair. he had no cause for alarm. for. There were demonstra- tions in the Science. linglish. Social Science. Mechanical. Language and other depart- ments, fXK'e wonder why so many boys were loitering near the cooking class-and why there were so many students by the fashion showlj After the inspection of the school by the parents and friends. there was a program in the auditorium with the Iunior Girls' Glee Club. the Orpheus Club. the Orchestra. and a puppet show. Alice in XYonderland. Tuesday. May 2. was the day set aside for the annual frolic of Dads' and Sons' Day. Be- PROGRAM ginning immediately after school, the event lasted well into the evening. Baseball, arch- ery, and volleyball were the attracting sports ol the evening. A-X team of dads managed to defeat a team of boys in baseball. Believe it or not, Mr. F. M. Iohnson makes a swell waiter. at least he did when he served that water slightly llayored with lemon iuice fde- clared to be lemonadelj There were so many gym teachers at the front of the lemonade stand fa wheelbarrow and two tanksl that the poor Senior li boys were unable to get eyen a cupful. The Great Bob Keel-er and father walked away with ihe laurels in arch- ery fwallted away into the dining room and devoured fifteen hot-dogs. no more. no less.J XYhereupon the dads and sons went In the races fpardon. went to their placesj to eat. The bill-of-fare consisted of spuds. hot-dogs and coffee. Max Ellis wasn't yery hungry for some reason or another: he simply consumed two .or maybe it was three. dozen buns. a quarter of a sack of potatoes and three gal- lons of coffee.
