V 'G aster Edward G. Eagle was born in the gear of 1912. Ghis was the gear that a new high school was being built in the north end of 'G erre '3'laute, a school that was to be Garfield 'Ql'ligh. It was in this gear that the facultg, students, parents, and patrons of Garfield began to look for a brand new emblem to go with their brand new school. Chen theg saw Eddie, a little purple eagle, onlg a few dags old, with onlg a verg few feathers, sitting in a huge nest with his parents, CDr. and CD1-s. Bald Eagle. At once it was decided that Eddie was the one who should be the emblem for Garfield. for Eddie was goung and new like the school, he had a lot of spirit, in time he would grow larger and larger, and better and better, and, last of all, he would make historg and soar to the heights of all mankind. O3r. and CDr. 'Bald Eagle seemed to sense at once what a great thing it was for Eddie to be the emblem of Garfield and what an honor was being bestowed upon their son. Although theg hated to part with him, theg thought in later gears theg would be proud of all his great accomplishments. So Eddie Eagle was adopted bg Garfield 'fl-ligh School for its emblem. Even Eddie , goung though he was, seemed to realize his importance and made a vow that, while he reigned as emblem of Garfield, it would be one of the great high schools in historg. cflow, after fortg-two g ears , Eddie is being introduced to gou in p erso n for the first time and he has ch osen to make his entrance in the pages of the 1954 Benedictus. Eddie, we introduce gou to the students of Garfield. . , . . . . Sag 7-lello!
