The enrollment in Iunior Red Cross was a hundred per cent, and the sum of money raised was seventy-five dollars. ln the various drives Garfield ranked high among the high schools, hav- ing won second place in the paper drive. Most students responded well, bring- ing in tin, paper, and similar salvage. 1 The bond sale for the year was S7,7ll, and stamps were sold to the amount of 31,842 To the local U. S. O. the school gave drinking cups, and many of the girls acted as hostesses at the Y. W. C. A., helping in the U. S. O. work carried on there. The school did its bit for the local Red Cross also. Twelve pairs of convalescent slippers, thirteen baby jackets, ten hospital gowns, and one afghan were completed. On the whole, our War effort was quite satisfactory.
