GRANT MOORHEAD - Grant was one of the most capable substitutes on the Demon squad 'his year as he anly proved by racking up 17 points against the Palisade Bulldogs in the final confer- ence tray ofthe season. His ability to gather in re- laounds as well as put in lay-up shots proved ri great menace to every foe he played against. MARCUS NCRDBERG - Showing great pro- mise during his first season, this able sophomore exhibited his skill in every department ofthe game. A natural shot and a skillful ball-han.ller, the Kid proved that all he lacked was experi- ence. His return next year will be an asset for the '48 squad. JOHN SVHUTTE - Playing his first vear of bt ll St-hutte showed ability that earned berths for him on AllrXX t-stern Slope and All-State teams. He was high scorer for the season with an average of 10 4 Points per game for twenty games. His sharp passing and deadly accuracy in shooting made him a valuable offensive player, but he was not to he our done in the field of defense. His agility and speed made him the scourge of cpponents. john will be sorely missed next year. lllvl WEAVER - Weaver was the work- horse of this year's squad. Although not a conf sistent high scorer, lim could be depended upon to drop a bucket in a tight spot. Playing his third year of first-string ball, he was the force that kept the team cool. ln recognition of his ability he was selected basketball captain for the '47 squad. His spot will be hard to fill next year'

MAX GETTS - Max proved to be a valuable asset to this year's aggregation as his height enaf bled him to control either backboard as well as break up many plays by seemingly pulling passes from the air and thereby giving the Demons con- trol of the bali again. He played consistently throughout the sea' son to earn his letter and the praise ofthe school. Z1 LAWRENCE LEONIARDI - Peck , after an absence of a year from G. C. H. S. , returned to become one of the spearheads of the Demon at- tack. His ability to come through with the goods at th: right time was plainly seen not only in the Fruita game in Delta where he garnered the winning basket but in numerous other games where his ability to keep cool was an incentive for the other members of the team. Peck will be sorely missed by next year's team. CLIFFDRD LONG - Kip was one of the two juniors to secure a spot cn this year's first five. His quick actions and continuous presence of mind enabled him to break up many of his oppo- nents' plays, which would have otherwise been good for a basket, as well as pass the ball to set up one of his team-mates. Kip's'l return next year will prove invaluable to the team.

DENVER TOURNAMENT Again playing the.opening game of the tournament the Demons downed a . -. . S f m Wray Colorado 32-19, to win the first game in the 1947 tate strong team ro , , Ch ionship Tournament. Playing, perhaps their best game of the entire amp season, the Red Devils were never seriously threatenedg led by John Schutte, who tallied 19 points, the Demons racked up the first game any team from Glenwood has ever won in any state Tourney. The Glenwood quintet next met the Durango Demons in the semifinals of fast Glenwood soon racked up a 12-11 lead and stayed ahead until the halftime. The Durango five, led by their 6' 7 center, ' ' 1 ' the held Mor an came out strong in the third quarter and for l minutes y leffv g . the Glenwood aggregation scoreless, while garnering enough points to stay ahead for the remainder of the game and to win hy a 31-l7 score. The Durango Demons went on to win the State Championship the following night. john Paul Schutte, high scoring Glenwood forward, received All-State ' I laurels, an honor which no other Glenwood player was ever the tournament. Starting out Second Team 'eived and an honor which all players should envy. rec Gut hats are off to Coach N. J. Stubler. who hrought the team through such a successful season.
