Sllllll lllllllllll Ill 1945-47 SKIRT AND SWEATER DANCE The annual Skirt and Sweater Dance was held on Friday, September 20, at the high school gymnasium. This is the big opening event which is given each year in honor of the freshmen to welcome them into the halls of Cv. C. H. S, The highlight ofthe evening was the grand parade of freshmen led by Mary Tapley and Norman Simillion. The juke-box, operated by Mr. Igo, furnished the music, and the Mothers' Club served refreshments. There was a large turn- out of both students and alumni for this first school dance. POST-GAME DANCES After the home football and basketball games this year, dances were held at the Canteen. Music was furnished by the jukebox operated by Mr. lgo, with the assistance of members of the Mothers' Club as chaperones. Refreshments were served by the mothers with the aid ofthe students. SADIE HAWKINS' DANCE The annual Sadie Hawkins' Dance, held at the high school gymnasium on Friday, November 22, was undoubtedly the most successful dance of this sort ever planned in ihe halls of G. C. H. S. All the Sadie Hawkinses ran their dates down, and the characters ofthe comic-strip stepped out into real life toa jambo- ree complete with hillbilly music, furnished by the Colorado Stevedors. Sailie Hawkins, who was portrayed by Paula Hutchings, introduced the more prominent characters, such as the mayor of Dggpatch fCarleton Hubbatdl and Marryin' Sam fArchie Urquhartl, who issued marriage licenses. The dance was climaxed by marriage ceremonies. The mayor presented gifts to the best dressed girls chosen by the spectators, and as a special honor, he bestowed on each one a kiss. Sadie gave the gifts to the boys. The winners were Dallas Swsnson, first, Barbara Lee lones, second, Loyette Gamba, third, Archie Urquhart, first, Harvey Bellm, secondg and Donald Heisler, third. Mrs. Hubbard, Mrs. DeMaestri, Mrs. McMillan, and Mrs. Moorhead served lunch, which was furnished by the Senior Class.

llilllllililllllllllll Allliilllhx nl 1945 JUNIJR-SENIOR PROM AND LUNCHEON The juniorfSenior Prom of 1946 was held on May IO at the Grade School Autlitorium. The elaborate decorations carried out the theme of Spring Rain A The ceiling ofthe gymnasium was a mass of glittering raindrops, and on the stage the ingenious juniors had constructed a rain machine from which poured a steady drizzle of rain all evening. ln the middle of the hall was a large hand- ma.le chandelier of mirrors, which revolved with the aid ofasmall motor. Music was furnished hy Armand De Preque and his orchestra. The Grand March was led hy Marilvn Adriance and lim NX!eaver. Refreshments were served by thelunior Class Mothers. The junior-Senior Luncheon of I946 was held in the junior High Gym, and the decorations were the same as -nose used at the Prom. The menu consisted ofhaked ham, scalloped potatoes, peas, salad, rolls, coffee, and a dessert of ice cream and cake. Alfrecla Mann vtelccmrd tlie Seniors, and Petty Cowles gave the response. While the Sophomore girls served the ice cream and cake, Marilyn Adriance sang several numbers. CHRISTMAS FORMAL The first formal of the year was held at the Legion Hall, December 20. The coronation ofthe queen, Kathry ie Nieslaaik, chosen by student vote, was followed by the grand march led by the queen and her partner. Carleton Hubbard. Her ladies-in-waiting were Marilyn Adrrance, Wanda Morrison, Nancy Marx, Alfreda Mann, and Loyette Gamba -Senior girls who were nominated by the boys of the Senior class. The presents piled high in front of the imitation fireplace were han led out by Mr. lgo. The Mothers' Club served punch and cookies in the basement dur' ing intermission The couples danced to the music of the Armand De Beque Orchestla, which was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Moorhead, Mr. and Mrs. Jess Weaver, Mr. and Mrs. Carleton Hubbard, Mr. and Mrs. Max Gerts, Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Bigum. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin McMillan, Mr. and Mrs. john Schutte, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Benedeclc, Mr. and Mrs. P. j Gallagher, and Mr. and Mrs. I. I. Huntley.
