For our final year, thirty eight people returned. Mrs. Stapp was our sponsor and the officers were as follows: Carleton Hubbard, president, Alfreda Mann, vice-presidentg Kathryne Nieslanik, secretary, Archie Urquhart, treasurer: John Paul Schutte, student body representative, and Max Getts, student body president. The class of '47 contributed seven of the first eleven on the '46-47' football squad and two members on the second string. The team this year won the Yam- pa Valley Championship and lost the Westerii Slope Class B Championship by only one point to Hotchkiss. Eight of the first eleven in basketball were of the class of 47 and this team went to the Denver tournament. This team was the first in fifteen years that Glenwood sent to state tournament. They were elimi- nated only after they had reached the semi-final bracket. ln Delta, this team took second place in the conference. The B squad, captained by Tommy Simp- son, won the consolation at the De Beque tournament. John Paul Schutte, brilliant senior forward, was chosen for the all state second team The senior class gave their last dramatic performance in a very cleverly done three-act play, Here Comes Charlie, which attracted one of the largest audi- ences that ever attznded a class play in Glenwood. The play was given Decem- ber 6 under the capable direction of Mrs. Stapp. On May second, clever decorations adorned the assembly in honor of the annual Sneak day. A bus was chartered to Leadville and Climax. Class night was presented May 16 with the theme of bringing a Memory book to life. Eight of the original kindergarten class,Grant Moorhead, lim Weaver, John Paul Schutte, Harry McMillan,Jim Mulkey, Carleton Hubbard, Tommy Simpson, Barbara Duffy, and Paula Hutchings, graduated.
