Hlminiscing When adolescent offspring Approach my rocking chair And ask me of my younger days Before I lost my hair, I'll then be in my glory. I'll smile and slowly say, Kids, l'll tell you a story, Of the youth of yesterday. We didn't have your rocket cars And other modern things. We didn'r visit other stars Of the orbit's outer ring. But let me tell you we had fun. To the old school we brought fame. Glenwood High Cshe feared no onel Shell win most every game. Now you kids have thought machines. You don't have to go to school. You don't ever think of football teams But I wager someday you'll Not look with such disgust Upon a ranting patriarch who says l-le'd win a game or bust! The delight you'll never know Of working with your friends To give a Prom or stage a show To swell class dividends. Yes, you can have your 1980 And atom planes that soar to heaven. If I had my choice I'm sure l'd be With the class of '47.
