a x PAULA HUTCHINGS Known as Hutch to her friends, this sophisticated, petite miss exhibited an endless number of qualities. She demonstrated conspicuous talents in dramatics by playing the lead of both the junior and Senior class plays. Her aptness for de- livering oratories placed her in constant demand to give speeches at numerous so- cial gatherings. Paula's loyalty and dependabiliy throughout her school life won her an enviable record and a host of friends. Her major interest is in the literary field. Upon graduating, she plans to continue her study in English at the University of Colorado. She held a variety of interests outside of school, being a staunch ski en- thusiast and a swimming fan. JOH PAUL SCHUTTE This handsome dark-haired Senior youth, although he was only able to take part in athletics in his Senior year, made a name for himselfnot only in G. C. H. S., but in the entire state. At the Delta Basketball Tourney he obtained a position as forward on the All Tourney first team, and in Denver he upheld his reputation by procuring a forward position on All-state second five. john setvtd all four years on the Student Council, and his name appeared consistently on the lionor roll. He was rewarded for his diligence by ranking third highest in his class, thus se- curing him membership in the National Honor Society. He showed exceptional musical talent in playing the clarinet and in his dancing. His individuality, versat- ility, and modesty mark him as a true paceweiter in the activities of G. C. H. S.

S 4 o 'Ha g . LOYETTE GAMBA l Loyette is definitely an outstanding Senior. She gained fame first by handling class tuner ons and certain responsibilities with dexterity. Dependability, capa- bility. and ambition were characteristics which acquired for Loyette the office of Editor of the Yampah Staff in her junior year and many club offices. Since there was no band director in '46-'47, Loyette, on her own initiative, organized a pep band to play for assemblies and football and basketball games. Her assiduous ef- forts in the class room were compensated bv her being elected to the National Honor Society. Lovette played prominent character parts in both the class plays, and she was an indispensable member of both the band and orchestra. When she graduates, Loyette plans to study music and carry on her career along this line. CARLETON HUBBARD. JR. Hubby was thelife of theparty in any crowd. His ingenious wit and ex- pressions. strictly original, won him many true friends. He was a member of the baskrtball squad for three years, and he was a strong skiing and swimming enthusiast. His receptive attitude and dependability entitled him to class oilice all four years of his high sch: ol career. ln his Senior year he held the class presi dency. He always did his share or work in class projects converting the toil into good times for his fellowmates by his enjoyable manner. ALFREDA MANN Freda was exceptionally outstanding in the scholastic field. Not only did her name appear every six weeks on the honor ioll, but her superior average elected her as valedictorian of her class. Her amicable personality and her dependability insured hir a place at the top of the list with her fellow classmates. She was act- ivg in all extracuiricular activities, and in her Junior year she was elected Basketball Q-1een.Tl1is admirable blonde was in band for three years, took part in both the junior and Senior class plays. and held a class office every year --a feat that marks her as a definitely ambit.o.is inuivi fu.il. She plans to attend the University of Colorado where she will major in a course of mathematics and physics. JAMES WEAVER Typical American boy are the words which characterizejim. He was second only to Alfreda in his scholastic rating. thus securing the high honor of salutato- rian of his class. jim participated in both basketball and football during his four years at Ci. C. H. S. His keen perception and skill in ball handling gave him a place on the all-conference football team in both his junior and Senior years. ,lim is also adept in skiing and has won honors for Glenwood in several ski meets. He showed excellent dramatic ability in his performance in the Senior Class Play. His sincer- ity, leadership ability. and wit won him many friends aud guaranteed him the es- teemtd position of captain of the basketball squad in 1947. I-le displayed his will, ingness-to-work and his efficiency by giving so freely of his time to promote the newly established youth movement in Glenwood Springs.
