DENVER TOURNAMENT Again playing the.opening game of the tournament the Demons downed a . -. . S f m Wray Colorado 32-19, to win the first game in the 1947 tate strong team ro , , Ch ionship Tournament. Playing, perhaps their best game of the entire amp season, the Red Devils were never seriously threatenedg led by John Schutte, who tallied 19 points, the Demons racked up the first game any team from Glenwood has ever won in any state Tourney. The Glenwood quintet next met the Durango Demons in the semifinals of fast Glenwood soon racked up a 12-11 lead and stayed ahead until the halftime. The Durango five, led by their 6' 7 center, ' ' 1 ' the held Mor an came out strong in the third quarter and for l minutes y leffv g . the Glenwood aggregation scoreless, while garnering enough points to stay ahead for the remainder of the game and to win hy a 31-l7 score. The Durango Demons went on to win the State Championship the following night. john Paul Schutte, high scoring Glenwood forward, received All-State ' I laurels, an honor which no other Glenwood player was ever the tournament. Starting out Second Team 'eived and an honor which all players should envy. rec Gut hats are off to Coach N. J. Stubler. who hrought the team through such a successful season.
