Mountain Valley League Champions! F'C O T B A L L TI-IE GARDEN HOME BLUE IAYS heaped laurels on our old Alma Mater this season by capturing the Mountain Valley League football championship. After losing one conference game and tying another, the team scored victories over the remaining league teams. Placing first in the league tournament put Garden Home in the running for the state championship where they lost out by a small margin in overtime play in the semi-finals. B A S K E T B A L L The Garden Home basketball squad suffered some unfortunate defeats this season and yet came out on top in the conference, tying with Castle Rock for first place. The Blue Iays entered the league tournament slated as a possible winner, but a few unlucky breaks caused them to lose their first game. Winning their second game placed them in line for the consolation cup, but they were eliminated in a close and exciting game. The boys deserve much credit for this se:1son's showing.
