I, Jean Holland-Turner, do bequeath my ability to get married to Nyla Holcomb I, Reviel Ward, do bequeath my friendliness to Nina Burnette I, Elizabeth Wilkerson, do bequeath my alertness to Myrl Payne SEWHGMR2 LLHUSTKIDERW The progress of the Senior Class of l95O has lndeed been great, and now our aim is to reveal the events of most importance'Uuough out our 4 years of high school Since we began our Freshman year we have gained much knowledge, which will be most useful to us i the future we are now about to face We now wish to explain some of the happenings which we still remember today In August of the 1946 47 school term, 33 half scaradamdnervous young folks entered G H S wondering what hlgh school wouldbe l1ka To us, this was a great adventure, even though a few of us were slightly acquainted with the ways of h1gh school We green Fresh men l1ked hlgh school fine and no one left us the flrst semester, but at the beginning of the 2nd semester, Anita Bean left usto at tend school 1n Louisville During these months we received anenor mous amount of help and advice from a most wonderful sponsor, Mrs Harry Ross Turner We were given the privilege of electing thefol lowing offlcersa President William Harlin, V1ce Pres1dent Elvin Copass, Sec and Treas MarJorie Ritter In the fall of 1947, when vaca ion was over, 29 students retmwr ed to G R S to begin the1r Sophomore year We were minus 4 of our classmates s1nce Mary Evelyn Adams was married to Jesse Hale after we finished our Freshman year, Bobby Hays, Jimmle G Mary B Russel entered school at Tompkinsville A few weeks afte schoolkmd begun, J C Witcher, from Red Boiling Spr1ngs,Jo1ned our class, but then deserted us as did Junior Dyer before the term ended Since wewere dumb Sophomores, we planned to study hard and learn lots We had two grand sponsors durlng this term They were Mr Edwin Steen,who left us to become Principal, and Mrs Louls Ross, who replaced Mr Steen and contlnued w1th us throughout the year Our classcfT1cers Sec and Treas June clark, Sergeant at Arms J C Wlt her When the 1948 49 term rolled around, 26 Jolly Junlors weregres ent to Legin a year of hard work We were rather Jolly because were enterlng our 3rd year of Tlgh school work, feellng we had ac complished a great deal during the past 2 years We lost two ofour number, Betty Smith, who marr1ed Kenneth England, and Goldaimckard who preferred housekeeping to school, was later marr1ed to Junior Turner During the 2nd semester, Anlta Bean again Joined our class We elected the followlng off1cers for the year President Donald Downing, Vlce Pres1dent Wayne Downlng, nec d Treas Joyce Marsh The highlight of our Junlor year was our play, Narandad Meets Pal,' which was under the dlFeCLlOD of our grand sponsor,Lrs Geo Downlng A much remenberedsdventure near the close of school, was the trip to Florlda, which was most enJoyable except for the deep sea fishing! It made almost everyone sick In August of 1949, 26 Seniors enrolled for the last andgreatest of the four years of our high school We were sorry to lose Holon Crowe,who only came a few days, and Pauline England who, hav1ng been bitten by the love bug, married Wallace Testers shortly after we finished our Junior year Wmthin a few weeks we again hadib in 'V - n 0 were: President--Virginia Bray, Vice-Presidentl-Donald Downing, G ' t.
