CLASS HISTORU On the Fourth dav of september in the year 1928 twenty four children started in the kindergarten of Holstein lowa Of the twenty four that started over half remained together through the thirteen years of the school course They are Gene Asprey Donnabel Christensen Elona jean Ewoldt Loren Friedrichsen Robert Friedrichsen Dale Kelley Laveene Larson Paul Meier Wendell Michaelsen Don ald Sorensen Betty Stolley Ray Wehde and Roy Wehde Miss Bennet s pains and tolls were not in vain for the next year saw us heading upward to the first grade Mss Gray with her Tippytoes ad pittypats for class divisions will never be forgotten Though the ABCs caused plenty trouble we made the second grade with flying colors Our fun it seemed had just vanished For it is down to Brass Tacks under Miss Glorfelds in struction At the end of the year the report cards stated Promoted so off to the third grade we went Back we were in the old building with Miss Isabell the guide Writing English stories and learning the time tables seemed to be quite bothersome lt seem d there was always more to learn so up a flight to fourth grade we advanced This is where our trouble started for here we got our first six weeks tests Extra sessions after school were usually caused by be ng caught throwing paper wads One year is all that they would allow us here so across the hall mto the fifth grade we advanced The one way to keep Miss Paulsen from giv ing us a test was to give here a shower of peanuts First year history was a corker but we must have M ss Kitchen engm ered us a d stressed fully that our head was put on our shoulders to think with After a year of hard study we be ame members of Junior high school These happy years under Miss Franck and Miss Meyer who polished our so called rough spots will live with us throughout our lives The Blitzen aid the banquets were our source of entertainment We wanted more knowledge so it was high school foi us We dreaded initiation but all went well through this occasion Those greet country kids as the seniors called them became our pals and some of our best students Sophomore year was about the same a Freshman year but we felt superior to the new Freshmen Some classes got our goat but all sur vived and we applied for membership in the Junior cla s Time passed swiftly A successful sports year was in progress undefeated in football third best in the state in basket ball national recognition in band statewide recognition in glee club and vocal work The new head fully stressed the value of study and education After the summer vacation the gang was given top honors of seniors Time fulfills every wish which a person makes lt fulfilled our wishes by making us seniors W gave the freshmen as royal an initiation as we received Vowing not to forget our studies we had our school hours increased nearly a half hour a day Now that our school days are over in this high school we wish that they could be started all over agam Though we may look back on our school days as hard work we can honestly say that we are proud of our achievement We surely agree that work makes play much more enjoyable So as a group of educated seniors we graduate just like the group of children we were as we entered but we will never forget the glorious times we had together with our instructors and classmates Class of l94l Holstein Iowa Robert Friedrichsen I 1.
