Once a student enters high school, his lifes- tyle changes dramatically. He has been thrust into the mainstream of academics and extracurricular activities, and people's ex- pectations of him change. He is now sup- posed to begin behaving like an adult. New high school students reach to these expectations in different ways. Some try to live up to them and become wise academi- cians. Other rebel against high expectations and party hardy. And yet others ignore the expectations of outside influences and cre- ate their own for themselves. Students can accomplish all these goals on the high school campus, though partying there is frowned upon by the administration. High school can be dull and uninteresting, or it can be the scene of active and crazy goings-on. To students that come to school with a negative attitude, campus life is mere- ly something to be endured. But students that step onto school grounds expecting some- thing good to come out of their time will have their expectations rewarded with a little work. It takes participation for a high school student to enjoy these four years of his life: participation in clubs and sports as well as academics. Ask any high school student walking around campus with a smile on his face: he'll tell you that he's enjoying this phase of his life because he's an active participant instead of a passive observer. Junior Class struggle to win the Human Pretzel. ' ' Curtis Swenson exhibits his Number One enthusiasm. 18 V GHS THEME
