ou I-IS?a llEllllTl VA THE GIRLS' LEAGUE Under the outstanding leadership of W'inona Barber, the Girls' League has had a very successful year. A new system for entertainment at the meet- ings, which are held on the second Thursday of each month, has made the occasions more interesting. An entertainment box, in which are the names of all the girls in the school, is used. At each meeting 12 to 15 names are drawn out of the box. The girls whose names are drawn furnish the entertainment for the next meeting. To begin the year a freshman reception party was given. Each freshman had her big sister who sat with her during the party. On February IO, a Valentine Party with the Half-and-Half theme was held in the cafeteria. All the girls dressed half one way and half another way. Their mothers and sisters were invited, everybody received a comic valentine, and prizes were awarded. A baseball dance was sponsored on April 12 in the gymnasium, which was decorated according to the baseball theme. To end the term the annual Mothers' Tea was held and new officers were installed. The entire Girls' League wishes to thank Miss Wright for the club's song which she composed. The song is written to the tune of Theres a Long, Long Trail A'Winding, and is as follows. MMQGUHSMCMF THE HCDNCDR SCDCIETV Scholarship For Service is the motto of the Galt High School Honor Society, a member of the California Scholarship Federation. The honorable position of being sealbearer of the organization for this year belongs to Margie Price. To be a seal bearer a person is required to be in the Honor Society six semesters including one semester in the senior year. The first problem confronting the old members, when they came back in the fall, was the initiation of a new member. After the initiation, which was held in October, the club consisted of the the following members: Iohn Lakey, presidentg Henrietta Schmidt, vice-president: Gloria Cooley, secretary, Iohnny lshizuka, treasurerg Margie Price, torchbearerg and Dolores Konrad. To meet the financial problem, they raised money by selling magazine sub- scriptions and by holding a camera raffle, In the second semester they bade farewell to three of their old members and welcomed one new member, Emma Kraft. On March 12, the initiation and election were held in Miss Provines' apartment, the officers being elected as follows: lone Konrad, president, Doris Iohnson, vice-president, Winona Bar- ber, secretaryg Margie Price, treasurer: Emma Kraft, torchbearerg and Dol- ores Konrad. Several from this society attended the California Scholarship Federation Convention of the Northern Divisionheld at Marysville on April 27. The official delegates, however, were Winona Barber and lone Konrad. Other activities of the year included a camera raffle and an Honor Society Day. When Miss Provines spoke of the Honor Society she said, Life mem- bers or sealbearers of the Galt Honor Society, who have gone to college, have maintained a very high average. flj Ishizuka, E.
