GUl-IS THE GERMAN CLUB This is the only foreign language club in the school. Although German is not spoken exclusively during the meetings, all students must have a HB' average before they can join the club. At the beginning of the school term the club officers drew up a consti- tution in place of the one that was lost. It was voted upon and immediately put into effect. Lawrence Radke was elected the song leader in December. In Ianuary a party was held in the cafeteria with these five new members being initiated: E. lack, L. Seibel, D. Ladd, lshizuka, and H. Stamp. Winlc 'Emu and the singing of German songs constituted the entertainment before refreshments were served. Monthly meetings were held throughout the year. A deficit in the German Club was finally overcome by a candy sale in November and a camera, cake, and candy raffle on April 24. The club attended a Weiner roast at Lodi Lake, May 15, concluding that occasion with the election of the officers for the next year. Club officers are: F. Gudel, president, W. Barber, vice-presidentg l. Kon- rad, secretary-treasurerg and L. Radke, song leader. When asked what she thought of this club, Miss Learned stated: The German Club not only offers an opportunity for students to develop latent quallties of leadership, but also stimulates in its members a desire to become more familiar with Germany's rich culture.
