These are the places where we put on concerts, and stayed with the people of these communities. We traveled in two charter buses with very English drivers, Roy and Pete. Mike Hester entertained in Chalgrove with a King-Tut routine. We presented gifts; the American Flag and State of Michigan plaques; to our generous hosts. There were many activities planned for us at each stop. In Oosterwalde, we rode thirty miles on bikes and visited museums with our home-stays. T here was a snowball fight in shorts and t-shirts on a glacier in Austria. We crossed the English Channel on a hover-craft, which was an experience for all. In Eng¬ land, we spent an afternoon at Windsor Castle, saw the Crown Jewels, and the changing of the guard, and even caught a glimpse of the Queen in Scot- land. This trip was packed with valuable experiences, which will never be forgotten. Symphonic Band 3rd Row E Osterling T Schultz, D Champion. J. Kasson. M Bailey, L. Beadle. Even though there are many uncertainties in the future, it will be your responsibility not only to cope with the problems, but also to help develop Solutions for them. I am co nfident that you will succeed in spite of the adversities you face. We hope that your stay at Galesburg-Augusta has been successful and that you have the background to compete. Much of your success will depend on you and how you approach the endeavors that you choose. If you approach that which you are doing in a positive way, your entire Outlook will reflect your attitude In life, just as in high school, you take out only as much as you put in. John H Wagar Superintendent To the Class of 1980: Be positive! Be optimistic! In these times of uncertainty it is imperative that you rise to meet the dilemmas of life head-on. It may be healthy to sort through the negatives that surround us, but in the final analysis our salvation is in seeking the ideal, the best. Even though the ideal may not be attained, the knowledge that your best has been given will help you maintain a positive Outlook toward yourself and others. Your parents and your school have provided you with the best educa- tional opportunity possible. We all hope that you will commence with the rest of your life with the past thirteen years as your steppingstone to a bright future. My personal best wishes to each of you as you join all the other gradu- ates of the Class of 1980 in accepting the challenge of the ' 80’s. Sincerely, James L.
