If I could give advice to anyone graduating in the world of 1976, it would be to become involved. Become involved where you work, your local community, State and country. I think there is no single situation in this country that is more dangerous than apathy. We are criticised for permitting things to happen, but it is difficult to find someone to be interested enough to become involved. I have a great deal of faith in our young people as potential citizens. I would like to personally congratulate you on behalf of the school board and administration of Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools and wish you luck in the future. John H. Wagar, Superintendent To the Class of 1976: In reflecting upon what I wanted to write to you - the 1976 graduates of Galesburg-Augusta High School - I felt it appropriate to review observations I have made this year and for the past few years on people. One of the things I did in my review was to list a number of words and phrases that I feel apply to all people. In looking over my list I noticed I could pair up some of what I had listed as opposites. This list is not all inclusive, it is not intended to be; but I would like you to think about the following pairings and determine where you might stand as a new member of the high school alumni establishment. 1. apathetic - involved 2. lazy - ambitious 3. excuse making - cooperative 4. confused - onfident 5. letting the other guy do it - initiative taking 6. silent - communicative 7. hindering - helping 8. giving up - persistent 9. irresponsible - dependable 10. procrastinating - doing 11. pessimistic - optimistic 12. passive - active 13. fantasizing - realistic 14. rejecting - accepting Wherever you fit, take it where it is, strive to do what is right, and build on yourself as a person so that life will be a worthwhile experience. You have received the best that the Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools has to offer in preparing you for life; may you make wise use of the preparation. My sincere congratulations to each of you as you complete your high school education at Galesburg-Augusta. It has been a pleasure and a privilege to work with you during your school years. But none can compare with the face of human energy. It has been the source of our great advances in medicine, agriculture and Chemicals. Against all machines and all materials, nothing is so priceless. Or so measureless. In the past 200years, the world ' s re- sources have been significantly depleted Yet human energy has hardly been tapped. And it will be this human energy which will bring us into the future through efficient use of what we have. And have yet to discover. The Upjohn Company is dedicated to the potential of human energy, ever mindful that energy is wasted if it does not benefit all of Upjohn These ads are available for your use through Corporate Public Relations Please request on appropriate order forms Bes+ Wishes to the Class of 1976 UNITED TELEPHONE COMPANY Augusta, Michigan Best Wishes to the Class of 1976 Good Luck in the Future Seniors SINGREY ' S ONE STOP SHOPPE Galesburg TIME-OUT LOUNGE Galesburg Congratulations to the Class of 1976 DREAMERS FURNITURE Galesburg 154 Congratula+ions to the Class of 1976 KELLY ' S TIRE CITY Kalamazoo Brad Kelly FAMOUS FOR FOOD IN SOUTHERN MICHIGAN F E ATUR ING: • DON DILLON AND HIS BAND ON SATURDAY NIGHT • SUNDAY BUFFET ROYALE 400 E MICHIGAN GALESBURG, MICHIGAN FOR RESERVATIONS CALL Kalama oo 665 7027 Battle Creek 964 8711 Compliments of GALESBURG MARATHON Galesburg Good Luck Seniors TIRE ENGINEERS Comstock ’See Coach for Good Tire Deals” Best Wishes to the Class of 1976 ANCHOR INN Compliments of ACKERMAN ' S UNION 76 Guli Lake Galesburg 155
