While others spent their vacations relaxing by the pool, members of the girls varsity basketball team executed drills and lay up shots in the gym. Sacrificing the lazy life of August to practice at least four hours a day and sometimes on Saturday, prepared teammates for a tough season schedule. This season the girls on the team were really surprised when they found out the new addition to the coaching staff : Coach Quesenberry. Coaches Griggs and Quesenberry put their heads together and with a little cooperation from the team, everything worked out. The varsity squad, including only 3 seniors, displayed a never quit attitude and a large amount of hustle. Although improving throughout the season, the girls finished with a record of 3-13. 'A ' 1'- .Qs I .QE Curtis Carrico calls out the plays to the Tide J.V. Team. With much fast running and strong throwing, the J.V.'s put forth an exciting season for everyone who came to support the Tide. Their season record of 4-4 seemed a bit disappointing to the players for they worked long and hard to make the season an outstanding one. The team learned new strategies and received much experience for the next season's games. Some I.V.'s were moved up to the varsity squad after their own season was over. With this move, they learned more about varsity football, but remembered how hard they worked for their own J.V. team. The 8th grade team proved to have many possibilities for a great season. Though a few of the team's starting players were injured and unable to finish the season's end, the entire team fought hard and helped one another to win. As they ended with a 3-5 season record, the players showed that they could go up against the best and often win their bat- tles. J.V. AND Sth GRADE FOOTBALL 37
