Though lost for the season, Ied Goad showed his respect for the team by staying on as a coachs' assis- tant. Tide handicapped by injured players The Maroon Tide learned to live with less in more ways than one this year. The team, plagued by injuries, found them- selves in a position they'd never seen before. The Tide altogether lost 8 starters before their season had ended. The losses were attributed to such misfortunes as broken legs, broken arms, separated shoulders, concussions, back trouble, and knee surgery. It seemed that at some time in every game at least one more person was added to the list of injuries. These tremendous losses contributed to lessen- ing the strength of the team. Many senior members were injured and there were some whose injuries prevented them from playing the remainder of their senior year, Although the injuries were many and the players were few, the team always put forth their best efforts. 34 VARSITY FOOTBALL
