i W x' , A s ' Ag EXECUTIVE OFFICER LCDR John W.. King, Jr. was born in Newport, Rhode Island in 1924 and has been in the Navy since 1942. He entered the navy as a Naval ROTC student at the University of California in Berkeley, had a brief but unsuccessful ,fling as an Aviation Cadet, and was graduated an Ensign from the Naval Reserve Nlidshipmans School, Fort Schuyler, New York in July 1945. He transferred to the regular service later that year while serving in the USS LST 846 in' China. He has served in the escort carrier SANTEE, the cruiser ST PAUL, the battleship IOWA during the Korean War, the destroyer IAMES E KYES in the Pacific, and on the staffs of Commander, Amphibious Squadron SEVEN in the Attack transport CAVALIER, and on the staff of Commander, Destroyer Force, U. S. Atlantic . Fleet in Newport. ln 1957, he was graduated from the ' Naval Postgraduate School having completed the grad- uate course in Engineering Electronics. A navy junior, he married another navy junior, Suzanne Hullfish in January 1949 and has four new navy juniors, Katherine 10, John 6, Robert 6, and Sallie, almost one.
